Laudato si' (Praise Be to You) is the second encyclical of Pope Francis, subtitled "on care for our common home". In it, the Pope critiques consumerism and irresponsible economic development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls all people of the world to take "swift and unified global action."
We in St Colmcille’s are playing our small part. The lawn at the Parochial House is being managed for wildlife. This means we did not mow the lawn in May (no mow May) and for next few months we are only partly mowing it to help with biodiversity. A large number of wildflowers have emerged in the lawn. If you want to manage your own garden for wildlife, there are some leaflets at the back of the Church. Our newly formed Laudato Si group are working in the cemetery along with the volunteers who have been maintaining the cemetery. Over the next few months there will be updates on the work they are doing. If you are interested and would like to join the group, please contact Colette at the Parish Office
